Local Food Pantry Donations
December 1-21 @ All Branches

            Each year, the Dickinson County Library branches are collection sites for donations to various local charities during the holiday season. This year, the library will be collecting donations for local food pantries to provide necessary food and supplies to families in need. Non-perishable food and canned goods will be accepted at all branches of the Dickinson County Library until December 21, after which those items will be delivered to area food pantries. Meet Karl Bohnak for an Author Visit and Book Signing featuring Sunburns to Snowstorms, Saturday, December 16,
1 PM at the Dickinson County Library—Main Branch in Iron Mountain! Co-authors Karl Bohnak and Jack Deo compiled Sunburns to Snowstorms by combining historical and recent photographs of Upper Peninsula weather with stories from Karl related to the events and locations depicted! The authors decided to write this book after putting together a slideshow presentation for the Marquette Regional History Center. The Dickinson County Library is pleased to host an author visit and book signing featuring this essential chronicle of Upper Peninsula weather and history!

This series of craft recycling programs will challenge you to salvage old books by using their covers and pages to create beautiful literary decorations. This month, we’ll decorate for the holidays! Adult Winter Reading Begins!

To take advantage of the cold weather season, the Dickinson County Library will be hosting Cocoa Club, an Adult Winter Reading program! The program will begin on Monday, January 29 and last through Friday, March 23. Adults 18 and over can sign up at any branch of the Dickinson County Library and receive a reading log to keep track of their books over the winter months. At our Main Branch, we will present a puppet show based on Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson. Kids of all ages can also enjoy a paper snow globe Make-n-Take Craft! All children attending will receive a free book to take home. At our Solomonson Branch, kids of all ages can put together our Make-N-Take paper snowglobe craft, and receive a free book to take home!
