The Friends of the Dickinson County Library will hold their Fall Book Sale, Thursday, October 11 – Friday, October 19 at the Dickinson County Library—Main Branch! A special preview sale will kick off the week on Thursday, October 11 from 5-6:30 PM, immediately followed by the Friends’ October meeting. This preview sale is for Friends of the Library members only: you can sign up to join the Friends at the door to enter the sale ahead of the public! Dues are $5.00 for one year of membership. The book sale will be open during library hours, October 12-18. Don’t miss out on great deals: we have materials for all age levels, including books, magazines, VHS tapes, DVDs, and much more!

Patrons of all ages are encouraged to check out a pumpkin and enter it in the first ever MVP Decorating Contest! Pumpkins will be available for checkout beginning October 15, and must be returned for judging by 4 PM on Friday, October 26. Odyssey Seekers Club: Resilient Raptors

A history of barn quilts, a map of barn quilt trails and the supplies and instructions needed to create your own barn quilt square will all be provided at this interactive workshop with Kathy Kelm. Patrons who attend will leave with the patterns, instructions, and most of the supplies needed to create their own 2’x2’ barn quilt square. No painting will occur at this workshop and paint is not provided. Preregistration for this program is required. Registration opens on October 15 and space is limited. Those who sign up must attend or cancel by 12:00 PM on October 24.

Children of all ages are invited to celebrate Halloween at the Library! Join us for a costume parade with three chances to participate—10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, and 11:30 AM. Make-n-Take a craft, judge the pumpkins entered in the MVP (Most Valuable Pumpkin) Decorating Contest, snap a photo in the photo booth, then Trick-or-Treat around the library!
