Antiques Appraisals with Mark Moran

The Dickinson County Library is pleased to host an Antiques Appraisal event with author and antiques expert Mark Moran, Saturday, June 3, 10 AM at the Main Branch in Iron Mountain! There is no charge for spectators to attend this program; all appraisals are open for viewing to the public! Those with an item to be appraised must register for a time slot and pay an appraisal fee of $15 per item. Suggested items for appraisal include: fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, folk art, advertising, assorted toys, metalware, clocks, costume jewelry, musical instruments, books, and sports memorabilia! Excluded items include all weapons, traps, fine jewelry including precious gems, coins, paper money, and Beanie Babies. The public is invited to observe the appraisals, which are open for viewing from all attendees.  This program is perfect for all antique lovers! SUMMER READING BEGINS
Monday, June 5 @ All Branches

Summer Reading is coming to the Dickinson County Library! Registration for the 2017 Summer Reading program will begin on Monday, June 5 at All Branches of the Dickinson County Library. Patrons of all ages may stop by and sign-up for the program, or register from home through our website, www.dcl-lib.org. This summer’s theme is “Build a Better World!” Patrons of all ages will celebrate new ways to participate in building up our community and the world around us.
With generous community support, the library will host entertaining and educational performances including “Cameron Zvara—Magician. Entertainer. Balloon Artist.”, Phyllis Carlson, Exotic Animal Pet Rescue, the Bergonzi String Quartet, the Michigan Science Center, the Lake Effect Quintet, Soundz of Time with Jan & Gino, the Cornish Pump Mining Museum, Snakes Alive, Alex Thomas & Friends, Bubble Wonders, and Nerf Mobile Games. Traditional favorites and unique new programs abound for all ages! Preschool storytime, “Building Little Readers,” will feature guest storytellers; children will recycle household items into pet toys for shelter animals and collage crafts for home; teens will create food masterpieces at Teen Iron Chef; and adults will learn about home safety and preserving nature while saving some time for fun with Lego building and board games!
