All branches of the Dickinson County Library will completely close at 5 PM on Monday, March 23 and remain closed until further notice, per executive order by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Curbside pickup of materials will no longer be available during this time.

On Monday, June 1, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order (EO 2020-110) that will allow libraries across the state to reopen, with restrictions, beginning Monday, June 8. The Dickinson County Library is excited to welcome staff back to the building the week of June 8 to complete training and prepare for curbside services. More information about when these curbside services will begin will be released after the Library’s Board’s virtual meeting on Tuesday, June 9.

We are focused on meeting the needs of our community while mitigating risks of exposure and spread of the virus. Our goal is to gradually expand safe and sustainable options for the public, beginning with improved curbside services at all branches in the next few weeks.

We will remain in compliance with executive orders, OSHA standards, and public health guidelines. The health, safety, and comfort of our patrons and staff is our highest priority, so please expect some new procedures as the library reopens.

The Dickinson County Library does not charge late fees for overdue materials, and all due dates have been extended through June 15. The book drop at the Main Branch will now be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM to 4 PM for those wishing to return library materials at this time.

The book drops at the Solomonson and North Dickinson branches will remain closed, and the book drop at the Main Branch will remain closed other than designated times until further notice. Please do not leave items outside the library. We will expand accepting returns as soon as we have the resources to do so safely.

Our online resources and Wi-Fi connections remain available all day, every day, and patrons with questions can reach out us via e-mail at dcl@dcl-lib.org

New patrons are encouraged to sign up for a temporary virtual card using the link on our website, www.dcl-lib.org. This virtual card will allow access to our digital resources until we reopen at which time temporary cards can be converted to permanent cards.

The Dickinson County Library helps the community finds its story. We hope you will visit our Facebook page and website for additional information on our digital resources and virtual programming. We look forward to assisting you with all your information needs as soon and as safely as possible.
