Yoga at the library

Tuesday, April 2 at 6:30 PM @ Main Branch

Local yoga instructor Kimberly Spigarelli will lead teen and adult patrons through beginning to moderate poses and breathing exercises. Please bring a mat or towel with you. Required registration begins on Tuesday, March 26; please call the Main Branch at 906-774-1218 to sign up!

Eclipse Kits

Available starting Saturday, April 6 @ Main Branch and Solomonson-Norway Branches

Kits for all ages will be available for patrons at the Main and Solomonson Branches that will contain special eye protection glasses to view the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8. Each kit will have an age-appropriate activity to do as well. The specialized eye protection glasses were obtained from the Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries (SEAL) program.  

Catch a glimpse of the Eclipse

Monday, April 8 from 1:45-2:30 PM @ the North Dickinson School Football Field.

Catch a Glimpse of the Total Solar Eclipse at this fun program for all ages. Students, staff, and community members will meet on the North Dickinson School Football Field to view the eclipse with specialized glasses to protect your eyes. The specialized eye protection glasses were obtained from the Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries (SEAL) program.

Shh...out!

Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 PM @ Main Branch

Do simple string art at Shh...OutThis program is for all teens in grades 9-12 and is a welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ teens and allies to just be themselves. Therapy dog Maverick will also be there. No registration required.

Bow wows and Books

Wednesday, April 10 at 5:00 PM @ Main Branch

Patrons of all ages and reading abilities can practice their reading skills by reading aloud to therapy dogs, Diogee, a Sheepadoodle, and Angel, a Teddy-Bear. Registration begins on Wednesday, April 3; please call (906) 774-1218 to sign up for a 15-minute time slot with either or both dogs!

Container Gardening throughout the Year

Wednesday, April 10 from 5:30-7:30 PM @ Main Branch

At 5:30 PM join us to make an herb fairy garden followed by a webinar from WE Energies and gardening expert Melinda Myers. Container gardens boost the color and seasonal interest in any size landscape, garden, balcony, or deck. With your budget in mind, we will explore attractive combinations of trees, shrubs, flowers, edible plants, and those that attract pollinators. This program/webinar is part of a 3-part series presented by WE Energies.

the Art of being: Crafters on central

Saturday, April 20 from 1:00-3:00 PM @ Crafters on Central (733 Central Avenue, Florence, WI 54121)

This program is designed for patrons in grade 5 and up that are currently battling cancer, are survivors of cancer, and for those that are/have been caregivers (includes family, friends, medical person, etc.).  This month we will be doing a special offsite program of Paint Your Own Pottery at Crafters on Central. Attendees must provide their own transportation to the program. Required registration begins on Saturday, April 13; please call the Main Branch at 906-774-1218 to sign up! the Art of Being

Tuesday, April 23 from 4:00-6:00 PM @ Solomonson Branch- Norway

This drop-in program is designed for patrons in Grade 5 and up that are currently battling cancer, are survivors of cancer, and for those that are/have been caregivers (includes family, friends, medical persons, etc.). Each month a craft will be available for attendees to do if they wish; April will be a Denim Pocket Craft. This is also a safe space to share experiences and meet others.

the run for the Roses

Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM @ Solomonson Branch- Norway

A history of the Kentucky Derby will be shared including origin, traditions, interesting facts, and a Derby Winner with a local connection to Iron Mountain. Non-alcoholic mint juleps will be available, and participants will have a chance to win a Pegasus pin. Fake bets for the 2024 Derby winner will be placed for fun! Please feel free to wear Derby gear, including big hats if you like! Required registration begins Saturday, April 20; please call the Solomonson Branch- Norway at (906) 563-8617 to register!
