Non-circulating collections, which cannot leave the building, include certain newspapers and all reference and local history materials.

Please stop by any branch to browse our collections. You can also request an item for checkout through one of two easy methods: placing a hold via the online card catalog, or calling any branch

Online card catalog--Visit the online card catalog, click “Login,” type in your library card number and PIN number, search for the items you want, and then click the “Place Hold” button to the right of the item listing. You may limit your search to the Dickinson County Library or you may expand to search Resource Sharing Libraries. Items will be sent to your designated branch and you will be notified when they are ready for pickup.

If you unable to find an item searching Resource Sharing Libraries through the online card catalog, the Michigan Electronic Library Catalog (MeLCat) may be utilized. Visit the MeLCat website to search for the item. If the item is available through MeLCat, request the item and select your home library and enter your name and library card barcode number when prompted. Library staff will notify you when materials are available for pickup at your designated branch. PLEASE NOTE: MeLCat should only be used for items unavailable in our shared library system.

Call any branch--Library staff at any branch are happy to assist with placing holds! Call any branch and staff will assist you in obtaining materials. If the items are available, staff will locate them and prepare them for pickup. If they are not immediately available, staff will place a hold and notify you when they are ready for pickup.

Items from outside the state of Michigan may be available in certain circumstances. Call your local branch to inquire.
