Who are the Friends of the Dickinson County Library?

The Friends of the Dickinson County Library is an auxiliary group whose aim is to draw attention to the library and support library activities. This year, more than ever, the library needs its Friends to strengthen the library's resources. Friends are a growing non-profit volunteer citizens group, believing in the importance of books, cultural activities and libraries for people of all ages. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to support the library and the dues are only five dollars per year.

How do the Friends help the library?

The Friends of the Dickinson County Library sponsor visiting author programs. "Book Talk" provides a review of interesting books. They also purchase special articles for the library especially for the Children's Room of the Main Library. Cooperating with the summer reading program for children is one of their main activities. They also provide refreshments for library programs. An important project is working with the library during millage elections. They provide money to beautify the courtyard and provide fresh flower arrangements every other month at both branches.

How can I join?
